fairfield park boathouse, fairfield
/This stunning venue was established in 1908 as a place for recreation and relaxation and it still maintains its old-world charm. It’s almost hard to believe that this antique bush setting exists only 7kms away from the city. With stacks of room for little ones to move around and play in the spacious gardens and peaceful views of the Yarra River from the Tearoom, there is a place for everyone to explore.
Pancakes, scones, cakes and spiders are served all day and there’s also a full breakfast and lunch menu (and a fully licensed bar!) After a delicious lunch, Mamma loves grabbing a lifejacket each and drifting across the river on a hand-built rowboat. Our family particularly enjoys being able to take the dog along for the ride! You can also just stay on the boardwalk and feed the ducks (you can buy a packet of duck food at the boat office) or watch the boats go by. Check out their website for boat hire prices. With a max capacity of 5 people per Rowing Boat, no one need miss out.
The old-fashioned 40c giraffe, zebra and Phar Lap ‘penny’ rides add an extra sense of whimsy.
Grab a couple of the famous freshly baked Devonshire scones, paired with a generous helping of cream and delicious strawberry jam to take home with you!
This is a lovely, lush spot for the whole family to relax and unwind.
Mamma’s special mention: Best Gelato in the area? Gelato Papa!
