Mamma loves supporting a social enterprise initiative and Moon Rabbit is a real treat! The cafe is run by The Bridge, a community organisation supporting social and educational training programs for adults with extra needs. They are also extremely conscientious about the environment and waste minimisation banning disposable coffee cups and offering donated glass jars to take home and reuse instead. They utilise only washable crockery and cutlery, provide fabric napkins and compost or worm farm any leftover food. With zero waste being the aim and strategies in place (like weighing scraps) in order to continue to improve, it’s such impressive dedication that Mamma really admires.
On top of all of that, the space is wonderful and perfect for kids with seating in lots of spaces to choose from. During warm weather there’s a dedicated courtyard area set up with active toys and activities and for cooler days there are outdoor heaters and an undercover area with books, toys, drawing activities and a blackboard to keep the kids occupied. There’s also a sunny, dog friendly outdoor area at the front and another side courtyard.
The coffee is great and there’s a cool and interesting selection of jaffles, like veggie bolognese (Mamma’s absolute fave!), jam and cheese (yes you heard correctly!) and mushroom magic. The little ones were in heaven.
Mamma’s just loving this thoughtful and inclusive space and everything the organisation stands for.
