rome: empire, power, people at melbourne museum
/Walk among ancient relics at ROME: Empire, Power, People.
There is something quite incredible about walking among objects that are thousands of years old and trying to imagine what everyday life was really like in ancient Rome.
ROME: Empire, Power, People at Melbourne Museum brings this fascinating world to life through ancient statues, mosaics, jewellery, frescoes and everyday objects. The exhibition is beautifully presented, with each section revealing more about the people, power and culture behind one of history’s greatest empires.
This exhibition will probably best suited to older kids, especially those who already enjoy history. Doing a little research about ancient Rome before your visit would also help kids (and Mamma!) understand the stories and get more from the experience.
It is an interesting and thought provoking exhibition that gives families a rare opportunity to stand close to genuine ancient relics and imagine the lives of the people who once used them.
The exhibition also explores the legacy Rome has left behind and the influence that can still be found in our life today. So interesting..
ROME: Empire, Power, People is showing exclusively at Melbourne Museum until 25 October 2026.
