icehq, reservoir

Baby, it’s cold inside! Mamma says you better ‘get your skates on’ and head to this cool ice skating rink in the north!

IceHQ is open for skaters of all ages and skill levels with public skating, private events and ice sports lessons.

Mamma has been with a crew ranging in age from 1-60 and EVERYONE had a blast! The staff are always on hand to give practical tips to those who are a little wobbly on their feet (but falling over is all part of the fun!) and protective gear like helmets and knee pads are also available for free. Miss 9 started the session a little scared but with a little help, conquered her fear and didn’t want to leave.

The disco lights, music videos playing on the big screen and games (like ‘limbo’) on the ice make for a really fun vibe. There are also seal and polar bear ‘skate aids’ available for hire to help younger skaters keep their balance.

After shredding it up in the rink it’s nice to head to the warm, spacious cafe for coffee and sandwiches. What a good workout and what a great way to spend the day!
