Bundoora Homestead Art Centre offers little ones the chance to view art and create their own! Each Friday, they host Teresa from Like Mind Studios, who runs an under-5s art class within the homestead.

The session always starts off with a story or song related to an artist or theme. Then everyone moves to the tables where different art supplies and materials are waiting to be turned into something amazing! Teresa will model the set activity while discussing different elements of art and encouraging the children to explore these in their artwork freely. It’s a great mix of skill-building, exploration, and self-expression. Come prepared for some hands-on fun with either an art smock or clothes you won’t mind getting a colourful makeover.

Mamma and her two little ones were excited to read one of our favourite books, “Don’t let the pigeon drive the bus.” Then we used pastels, foam stickers, coloured paper, googly eyes, feathers, and lots and lots of glue to turn paper plates into bright, colourful birds!

The session will end with another story or song, and the children will have the chance to show off their masterpieces. It’s fabulous to see the individuality among them all!
