matilda bay @ home

We can’t get there in person right now, but Matilda Bay can still come to us. The crew from the Healesville brewery have flipped their menu into an ‘at home feast’ and it is one of the best we have had. The dishes are easy to prepare at home, have a range of flavours and are super delicious.

The packs include 3 courses (you can’t skimp on dessert, especially if it is black forest cake!) and you get to choose your protein/main course. The gnocchi is so super smooth and creamy and the smoked chicken is a crowd pleaser. Delivery range is up to 60km - get on it people!

From our last visit …

There is an enormous new brewery to enjoy in Healesville, and it is a real treat. Matilda Bay has opened this beautiful, reimagined space (you may have visited when it was Giant Steps or even Innocent Bystander) and the vibe is so relaxed and welcoming, your whole family will feel at home. It is a working brewery, so expect to be immersed in the sweet scent of the brewing process, as well as being able to watch the brewers at work. You can even pull up a pew in the beer hall itself (there are games and fun stuff for the kids here too, but these are away until covid restrictions are lifted).

The menu is casual - pizzas, burgers and bar snacks - and perfect grub to be followed by the brewery fresh ales. You have to try the range fresh from the tap and the tasting paddle is always Mamma’s go to. The Redback was the fave. The space has a full retail fridge too, including the Pub Beer - these are crowler cans poured direct from the tap.

Matilda Bay has plenty of space, both inside and out, and as restrictions ease and more tables can be used, this is going to be another great go-to family hangout. Bookings are essential.

Mamma's special mention: Healesville has Mamma’s favourite beginners bike track and brilliant playground at Queens Park, both within walking distance from the brewery. Pack the scooters and make a full day of it.
