preston market, preston
/It's one of Darebin's oldest establishments and has been an icon of the area for eons. It's a place where families have traveled, to try or buy some of the areas best cuisines and produce - and at bargain prices.
The Preston Market - it's also Mamma's happy place. Not only can you get your fresh fruit and veg, an abundance of smallgoods, deli delights, meat, flowers, and baked goods, but you can also stay for a bite to eat at one of their many lunch spots. Mamma loves Bobo’s for their frshly shucked oysters and fish burger, Croque’n’Roll for their ragu-filled croque monsieur, and no visit is complete without the markets famed hot jam doughnuts.
Oh and Mamma says they also run a kid’s corner, with a cubby and chalk for the little ones to play. They also often run fun activities on weekends. For more information about what is on and special events click here!
The core of this market is multiculturalism, boasting over 120 stalls with some of the original stall holders who had set up shop here over 45 years ago, some of which continue to be owned and operated by the same families.
Mamma says the Preston Market is a special place and we need to support and keep it running for years to come!
