kangaroo hotel, maldon
/We just love an old country style pub and this one is particularly gorgeous. It has served well in its 165 year history and throughout earlier years it has been a venue for gatherings, concerts and balls, a rest stop for Cobb & Co passengers and has even acted as a part time morgue and butcher shop! These days it’s a great place to gather for a pub meal and to catch some live music. Recently ‘The Roo’ has been acquired by two local women, Donna & Dawn who are passionate about live music and hospitality - and it shows - there is a homely feel about the place and really friendly service. Check out The Kangaroo Hotel on Facebook for upcoming live music events.
You can choose between seats in the huge beer garden, the front bar area or, for more formal seating, there is a spacious dining room. The kids menu has all the classics (the home made chicken nuggets are particularly great) and for the adults you can’t go past the classic parma - however there are lots of other pub favourites and some interesting specials thrown in as well.
mamma special mention: It wouldn’t be a trip to Maldon without a stop off at the Maldon Lolly Shop. The Shire Gardens also make a lovely spot for a stroll and there’s a playground too.
