the freehouse, collingwood
/Mamma has found a brand-new spot in Collingwood that's bringing something a little different to the local dining scene. The Freehouse is all about good food, good drinks and good company, with a relaxed space designed for everything from a casual meal to a family catch-up.
The naturally gluten-free menu (yes it’s all GF!) takes inspiration from South American flavours and is packed with generous dishes made using seasonal Victorian produce.
From share plates and seafood to burgers, steaks and desserts, everything on the menu is made without gluten, without compromising on flavour.
Mamma’s menu highlights have to be the beef empanadas, the Hawkes Farm potatoes dipped in oozing provoleta cheese, the lamb skewers… actually you cannot go wrong with anything on this menu! The cocoa layer cake is also sensational to finish.
Mamma loves seeing a restaurant where the whole table can order freely without having to worry about finding the gluten-free options. There’s also a great drinks menu featuring Victorian beers, local ciders, spirits, cocktails and more. You won’t believe that the espresso martini is on tap!
Families are well catered for too, with a dedicated kids menu that doubles as a fun colouring sheet, giving little diners something to keep them entertained while they wait for their meal. With its family-friendly approach, tasty food and something a little different from your usual Collingwood dining spot, Mamma reckons The Freehouse is one to add to your list.
