possum hollow, heidelberg
/Mamma just loves the security of a fully fenced playground - throw in a cafe and her day is made! This playground has a beautiful mix of great spaces without being at all overwhelming. There are slides and bridges with a shade sail, a big flying fox (find it hidden at the far end!), a central zone with swings, spinning structures and things to climb and finally the shady zone with stepping stone mazes and cubbies to stake your claim - there’s something for all ages. The paved tracks and asphalt around the junior sized basketball courts give the bike loving kids a chance to burn some rubber. The best part is that there is now a cafe on site - and it’s run by Araluen Food Services, who provide on-the-job-training for participants wanting to acquire job skills and work more independently - so it’s for a great cause! The park is surrounded by sports ovals, bike tracks and is a stone’s throw from the Yarra River and the Heide Muesum of Modern Art.
Mamma's special mention: Spotted - a sign warning of magpies in the area. We saw none, but if visiting in the Spring time or in swooping season.
Keep the playground crawl going and check out the awesome Malahang Reserve while you’re in the area!
