Mamma just loves the security of a fully fenced playground - and this one has the MOST gorgeous entry. Throw in a cafe, off-street parking and public toilets and you’ve just described parent HEAVEN! Welcome to Possum Hollow playground.

This playground has a beautiful mix of great spaces without being at all overwhelming. There are slides and bridges with a shade sail, a big flying fox (find it hidden at the far end!), a central zone with swings, spinning structures and things to climb and finally the shady zone with stepping stone mazes and cubbies to stake your claim - there’s something for all ages.

The paved tracks and asphalt around the junior sized basketball courts give the bike loving kids a chance to burn some rubber.

The best part is that there is now a fully undercover cafe on site, run by Araluen Food Services, who provide on-the-job-training for participants wanting to acquire job skills and work more independently - so it’s for a great cause! Chancez Cafe serves pies and sausage rolls, fresh and toasted sandwiches as well as fairy bread (yes Mamma ordered an extra serve for herself thank you very much).

The cafe area also includes a great little craft area complete with colouring in and books for when the kids need a little break mid play.

The park is surrounded by sports ovals, bike tracks and is a stone’s throw from the Yarra River and the Heide Muesum of Modern Art.

Spotted - a sign warning of magpies in the area. We saw none, but if visiting in the Spring time or in swooping season.
