malmsbury botanical gardens, malmsbury
/What a surprise package! These - at first - unassuming botanical gardens in Malmsbury might actually be Mamma’s favourite. With a stunning lake as a central point, and access to the island in the centre via a cute bridge, small fenced playground, gorgeous pathways and amazing flora. Say hi to the gaggle of friendly geese who will likely be snoozing under a tree on your way around the lake. But wait till you get to the other side of the park and you spot the majestic HUGE viaduct spanning over the Coliban River. Built in the 1860’s as a railway bridge, this structure is epic. It almost looks like a painting framed in the lovely landscape. You can get up close too, and appreciate its size and what would have been a huge effort to build back in the day.
Mamma's special mention: Castlemaine Botanical Gardens are also lovely and a 30 minute drive away.
